Very calm and welcoming environment, and a nice collection of radical literature and zines on their bookshelf! :)

I finally have had enough moments here witnessing laptop thefts (3x's) to want to come back again. It has become the new normal (for the baristas and managers) to have 'theft' be a part of their establishment. The owner even came outside when the unfortunate event went down just to say 'well that's why we installed cameras'. Not at all did he do his due diligence to report the crime on his property (or their coop property...i guess) or to take down any witness accounts of the assailant. I felt such sadness for the person who had this event happen to them and although I know we can't all be vigilantes of justice, we should at least pool our resources to identifying these persons of interest so that things like this will eventually cease and so that people committing these crimes know the block is hot and that police are assisting in any capacity.
I still believe the coffee and the staff are delightful but can't say anyone seemed to give a hoot about 'the new norm'. -

Two bad espresso experiences in a row. Thy must use some sour beans or something. Also they ran out of oat milk in the middle of the day. Really want to support this place for their values, but you gotta have a good product first...

Good coffee, chill atmosphere, and a friendly staff.
This is one of my go to spots to work. There is limited seating, but I've never found the cafe to be too crowded. They also have outdoor seating which is great when the weather is nice.
People usually come here to work or read so if you're looking for a quiet space, this is your spot.
Alchemy Collective also supports artists, and you can find intriguing art on their walls.
If you are like me and prefer the smaller spots over the big coffee chains, definitely check this spot out! -

I hate to give Alchemy three stars because its a really cool place that emphasizes being queer-friendly/inclusive.
That being said, I've gotten coffee from here several times, and every single time its been pretty bitter and not nearly as sweet as I like it. I come back, always thinking there will be a secret to making this coffee enjoyable for me (i.e. adding a housemade flavored syrup, adding honey once I get home, adding some of the simple syrup they offer)-- it hasnt worked yet.
Well so what?! I get it. Not all coffee is going to be made for me. I'm from the South and I know most folks up here seem to think sugar was invented by Satan himself. I'm sure plenty of born n bred Californians would love this coffee...
When I have the pleasure of returning to this spot, it'll surely be for a vegan donut (turns out, there are some things on earth I like not-too-sweet!) or to try one of those new breakfast tacos I've been eyeing.
Long story short: Give it a try! What aint for me might very well be for you. Regardless, it's a welcoming atmosphere with bomb music and kind, approachable patronage.
